Furnace Maintenance Services
Aside from being integral to your family’s home comfort, your furnace is an important part of your ventilation system and one of the more expensive appliances in your home. Although all furnaces have limited life spans, with proper care and maintenance, you can prevent the need for expensive emergency repairs and extend the life of your furnace.
Whether you have just installed a new furnace or you’re trying to keep an older one going as long as possible, call DB Heating & Cooling, Inc. to schedule regular furnace maintenance. Our heating technicians have years of furnace maintenance experience in the Bergen County, Waldwick, Emerson, Westwood and Oradell, and Rockland County, NY area, so you know you’re getting the care you need and performance you can trust.
Protect Your Home
Professional Furnace Maintenance Service
Like every major mechanical device, your home furnace requires proper maintenance in order to perform at its peak. The frequency and type of maintenance required depends on what kind of furnace you have, but in all cases a professional with extensive training and experience should be called in to perform this work.
For furnaces that burn combustible fuels such as gas or oil, professional maintenance is recommended annually. These fuels are not as clean as, say, electric heat, so residue can build up in the fuel system over time. A professional technician can clean out the fuel lines for you, as well as check for any parts that need replacing and perform any other routine maintenance tasks. An electric furnace will require maintenance less often. Newer electric models may only need a professional check up every three years, although they are generally more expensive to operate due to the cost of electricity.
A professional technician will also clean and inspect the ductwork in your heating system, checking for any damage and making repairs as needed. Having clean and sound ductwork promotes proper functioning and efficiency of your home furnace.
Home Furnace Maintenance
While professional maintenance is very important, there are some smaller tasks that you can do yourself to extend the life of your furnace and avoid costly repairs.
First, just like every other part of your house, cleanliness is important for your furnace. Make sure to keep the area around your furnace clean and free of debris. Any dust or dirt in the furnace room will inevitably get sucked up into the furnace’s fans and vents, reducing its efficiency and potentially causing larger issues down the road.
Likewise, clean all heating vents regularly. A vacuum cleaner works well for keeping vents clean, but you can also use a duster or rag. The important thing is just to get any dust and dirt off before it builds up. As debris builds up in the vents, less air is allowed to pass through, forcing your furnace to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature in the home. A furnace that works too hard costs you more in fuel and is more susceptible to breaking down. Regular cleaning is a simple furnace maintenance task that goes a long way toward protecting your investment and keeping your home comfortably warm.
Furnace Longevity
No matter what your current furnace situation, new or old, well–maintained or neglected, DB Heating & Cooling, Inc. is the place to call for your furnace maintenance needs in the Bergen County, NJ or Rockland County, NY area.
